We dare not ignore

We dare not ignore the labor of the fathers and mothers. The tragedy of our time is that we have become a people who admire youth and discard wisdom. We prefer speed over depth, results over character. And in doing so, we have silenced the voices of integrity, the ones who know what it means to count the cost. The elderly are not a burden to be managed they are to be honored no matter what. They have laid hands on things we have not yet touched, and walked through fires we only studied. Where are the young who sit at their feet? Where are those who recognize that gray hair is not decay, but glory? To ignore them is to sever ourselves from the very roots that hold the tree upright. If we cannot honor those who bore the weight of faith before us, we are not ready to carry anything ourselves. Let us repent of our youth driven ambition, and return to the altars kept burning by the prayers of the aged. For in them, we may just rediscover what the Church was always meant to be.
